Amazon Will Collect and Remit Sales Tax in All States With Sales Tax Laws This story took like 9 years in the making.  Way back when it started, every independent book retailer lost sales online trying to comply with adding sales tax on every sale. This resulted on online book buyers merely going to Amazon as they did not have to pay additional sales tax adding up to the cost of each book. This finally vindicated the fact that no one is above bigger than Uncle Sam. And besides we as taxpayers benefit from paying taxes.
